Ms. Arowoselu joined Formation Capital in May of 2015. She is responsible for the maintenance of the financial statements of the legacy portfolios.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, she was a part of the Accounting and Finance Team at Biolab, Inc., a manufacturing company. There she focused heavily on financial statement analysis and general accounting duties.
Ms. Arowoselu received her MBA from Brenau University in 2014 and her B.A. in Accounting and Finance from the University of West Georgia in 2012.
Associate, Asset Management
Mr. Azfar joined Formation Capital in 2016 as a member of the Asset Management Group. He is responsible for transactions, operations analysis and investor relations.
Prior to joining Formation, Mr. Azfar was a part of the Capital Markets group at Halyard Health, a medical device and supplies corporation in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Azfar is a 2012 graduate of Georgia State University, where he received a B.B.A. in Finance from the Robinson College of Business.
Vice President, Acquisitions
Devin is a Vice President on the Acquisitions team, where he is responsible for analysis and execution of acquisition transactions and asset management initiatives.
Prior to joining Formation Capital in 2012, Devin worked for Bank of America Merrill Lynch for six years. His experience focused on origination and structuring of leveraged and investment grade syndicated loans, CMBS and sale-leasebacks with over $30 billion of transaction experience across the real estate and lodging industries.
Devin graduated from the McIntire School of Commerce at the University of Virginia with a B.S. in Commerce and concentrations in Finance and Management.
Vice President, Asset Management
Mr. Bennett joined Formation Capital in 2015. As a member of the Asset Management Group, he is responsible for managing property portfolios, ROI initiatives, lender and investor relations and financial reporting and analysis.
From 2009 to 2015, Mr. Bennett was a Relationship Manager in the Homebuilder Corporate Banking Group at Wells Fargo Bank where he provided enterprise and project-level banking solutions to the largest homebuilders in the United States. In 2008, he worked at Wachovia Bank as a Risk Advisor on the Credit Grading Methodology team in Charlotte, North Carolina. Mr. Bennett started his career in 2006 as a Risk Analyst at Wachovia in Atlanta, Georgia.
Mr. Bennett received a B.S. in Global Economics and Modern Language with a focus in Spanish from Georgia Institute of Technology and an M.B.A. from the Goizueta Business School at Emory University.
Vice President of Finance & Administration
Katherine joined Formation Capital in March 2015 as Vice President of Finance & Administration. She is responsible for the books and records of Formation Capital, cash management and treasury administration for corporate and portfolio accounts, as well as fund setup and administration.
Prior to Formation Capital she was the Vice President & Treasurer at HD Supply, one of the largest industrial distributers in North America, Katherine spent 10 years with Caraustar Industries in various finance and accounting roles and started her career as an auditor for Deloitte & Touche LLP.
Katherine is a member of the American Institute of CPAs, Association of Financial Professionals, CFO Leadership Council, and the Corporate Treasurers Council. She is an actively licensed CPA and graduated Summa Cum Laude from Auburn University with a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration and a major in Accounting.
Assistant Vice President, Asset Management
Mr. Carr joined Formation Capital in May 2006. His primary duties include document compliance, operations analysis, and investor reporting.
From 2001 to 2006, Mr. Carr worked as a financial analyst for the Office Division of Colonial Properties Trust. While at Colonial, he worked directly with senior management preparing cash flow return models on nearly $650 million of successful office building developments, acquisitions, and dispositions. In 1999 until mid-year 2001, he worked as an analyst at Tri-Mont Real Estate Advisors.
Mr. Carr received a Bachelor of Business Administration degree with a major in Real Estate from The University of Georgia. He is a proficient ARGUS software user, with over ten years of experience.
Vice President, Formation Lending Group
John Crassweller joined Formation Capital in February 2015. His primary duties include underwriting, closing, and managing a portfolio of healthcare real estate loans.
Prior to joining Formation, John worked as a Director of Healthcare Real Estate for Oxford Finance. While at Oxford Finance, he focused on underwriting and closing healthcare real estate and asset-based loans. Previously, he worked in the Healthcare lending group at The PrivateBank and Trust Company.
John received a Bachelor’s degree with a major in Finance from The University of Iowa.
Vice President, Asset Management
Meghan Darrow joined Formation Capital in 2014 as a member of the Asset Management Group. In her time at the company, Meghan has managed multiple billion dollar portfolios, with responsibilities ranging acquisition closing, strategy implementation, asset management, and institutional investor reporting.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Meghan was a part of the Acquisitions team at Jamestown, a private equity real estate investment firm with approximately seven billion of assets under management. While at Jamestown she executed over two billion in transactions for the company’s core, core plus and opportunistic funds. Meghan also specialized in strategic global tax and operations consulting at Deloitte, focusing on real estate and capital markets transactions.
Meghan received a Bachelor of Arts in Economics from Emory University and earned the Certified Financial Analyst designation from the CFA institute.
Eric Hendrix, CPA
Mr. Hendrix joined Formation Capital in April of 2010 as Controller. Mr. Hendrix is responsible for managing the accounting team for Formation Capital which includes handling, investor reporting, overseeing process controls, treasury and debt compliance, managing income taxes and outside audit related matters. In addition he is responsible for overseeing operator reporting and compliance with master lease terms and covenants.
Mr. Hendrix joined Formation from Tatum LLC where he was a principal in the consulting and controller practice in Atlanta. In addition he has previously held controller positions for privately held companies in the Atlanta area. He was also in public accounting for over eight years where he specialized in audit and corporate tax.
Mr. Hendrix graduated from Samford University in Birmingham, Alabama where he obtained a BA degree in Business Administration and Accounting.
Eugenia S. Hobbs, CPA
Ms. Hobbs joined Formation Capital in 2013. As Tax Manager, her responsibilities include managing the tax compliance process, reviewing and filing federal, state, local and property tax returns, projections for quarterly estimates, communication with investors and tax authorities, tax planning and research.
Ms. Hobbs began her accounting career with a small UK-based company that organized medical conferences around the world. While earning additional educational credits for her CPA, she got interested in tax and joined Ernst & Young where she worked on expatriate and foreign resident taxation before moving to the real estate group at Pricewaterhouse Coopers. During her 4-year tenure with PwC, Ms. Hobbs worked on a variety of clients in real estate and private investment companies. In addition, prior to joining Formation Capital, Ms. Hobbs worked for a regional real estate fund and solely managed all tax compliance functions for its corporate tax department.
Ms. Hobbs received a Bachelor of Arts in Teaching English and French from the Moscow State Pedagogical University in Moscow, Russia, and she earned her M.B.A. and Master of Taxation from Georgia State University. She is a certified public accountant in the state of Georgia.
Deborah Reed Johnson joined Formation Capital in March 2015. Her primary duties include cash management, accounts payable, and portfolio accounting. Prior to joining Formation Capital, Deborah was part of the accounting and finance team at Primary Capital Mortgage, a publicly traded residential mortgage lender and servicer.
Deborah earned her B.A. in Accounting from Georgia State University.
Vice President, Operating Company Asset Management
Mr. Johnston is responsible for the ongoing management of operating company investments, including portfolio compliance, investor relations, execution of growth strategies and profit optimization.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Mr. Johnston worked in GE Capital Healthcare Financial Services’ leverage lending group for six years, most recently as a Vice President focused on underwriting and portfolio management. Before joining GE HFS, Mr. Johnston was an Associate in GE Capital’s Risk Management Leadership Program. Mr. Johnston began his career as a small business banking and retail branch manager at Wells Fargo Bank.
Mr. Johnston earned a B.A. in Spanish and a B.A. in Business Management from North Carolina State University, an International M.B.A. with a concentration in Finance and Spanish from the Moore School of Business at the University of South Carolina and a Masters of Accounting from North Carolina State University.
Michael K. Landers
Michael joined Formation Capital in 2015 as an Accounting Manager and is primarily responsible for all financial accounting and reporting related to multiple portfolios.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Michael worked in public accounting as an auditor, tax accountant, and consultant as well as in private industry as an assistant controller at an industrial wholesaler.
Michael graduated from Kennesaw State University with a BS in Information Systems and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also a member of the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Ms. Loyevska joined Formation Capital in March 2015 as a Senior Accountant for the Eclipse Portfolio. Her primary duties include oversight and management of all areas relating to accounting and financial reporting of the Eclipse portfolio as well as SOX compliance.
Prior to joining Formation, Ms. Loyevska worked as a Senior Accountant for Alliant Health Solutions, a not-for-profit Government sub-contractor and as a Property Accountant for Consulate Management Company.
Ms. Loyevska received B.A. in Accounting from Georgia State University in 2012 and Master in Accounting from Kennesaw State University in 2015.
Mr. Mallard joined Formation Capital in 2015 as an Analyst on the Acquisitions team. He is responsible for analysis and execution of acquisition transactions.
Prior to joining the company, Mr. Mallard worked in the Syndicated & Leveraged Finance group at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in Atlanta, GA as an Investment Banking Analyst.
Mr. Mallard is a 2011 graduate of Georgia Institute of Technology, where he studied Finance at the Scheller School of Business.
Vice President, SEC Reporting and Compliance
Mr. McDurmont joined Formation Capital in 2014 as the Vice President of SEC Reporting and Compliance with a heavy focus on supporting Formation’s SEC registrant joint venture partners. He is also responsible for overseeing the purchase price accounting for all new investments, financial reporting (both internal and external), audits, internal controls/SOX compliance, technical accounting research and administration of the company’s report writing system.
Mr. McDurmont has over 20 years of accounting experience. Prior to Formation, Mr. McDurmont served as Vice President of Accounting at Columbia Property Trust and its predecessor company Wells Real Estate Funds. Prior to that time, he was a Financial Manager with Trammell Crow Co., with CFO responsibility for the company’s Atlanta real estate operations. He also previously served as Director of Partnership Reporting and Controls for HEALTHSOUTH Corp., and as Senior Accounting Manager for Cingular Wireless.
Mr. McDurmont graduated from Georgia State University with a BBA in Accounting and is a Certified Public Accountant. He is also a member of the American Institute of Certified Public Accountants and the Georgia Society of CPAs.
Mr. Moore joined Formation Capital in 2015 as an Analyst on the Acquisitions team. He is responsible for analysis and execution of acquisition opportunities.
Prior to joining Formation, Mr. Moore worked in the M&A groups at CHILDS Advisory Partners and Stephens Inc. in Atlanta, GA as an Investment Banking Analyst.
Mr. Moore is a 2013 graduate of Belmont University, where he received a B.B.A. in Finance and Economics at the Massey School of Business.
Executive Assistant to the Managing Directors
Anna Moran-Eden joined Formation Capital in May 2013. She is the Executive Assistant to David Russ and Kelly Sheehy, Managing Directors of Acquisitions, and assists with the daily office operations and management of the Atlanta headquarters.
In her time at the company, Anna has served as the Project Coordinator and Data Integrity Manager for the internal clinical group where her responsibilities included management of QIC, creation of the clinical group client billing system, and the planning and coordination of the annual Executive Advisory Council meetings.
Previously, Anna worked as the Executive Assistant to the EVP of Human Resources and Risk Management departments for SavaSeniorCare, and as the New Accounts Manager for OakBrook Financial Group / Penn Mutual Insurance Company.
Vice President, Acquisitions
Ms. Nickels joined Formation Capital in 2012 as an Associate on the Acquisitions team and is now Vice President. She is responsible for analysis and execution of acquisition transactions and asset management initiatives.
Prior to joining the company, Ms. Nickels worked in real estate private equity as an Associate in the US fund investment management group at JER Partners in McLean, Virginia and an acquisitions Analyst with the JBG Companies in Chevy Chase, Maryland.
Ms. Nickels is a 2008 graduate of the University of Virginia, where she studied Finance and Management at the McIntire School of Commerce.
Assistant Vice President
Mr. Nolan is a member of the Asset Management Group, where his responsibilities include portfolio operations, execution of growth strategies, profit optimization and investor reporting.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Mr. Nolan worked in the acquisitions group at Rialto Capital, a real estate private equity firm, where he focused on distressed and undermanaged real estate. Prior to Rialto, Mr. Nolan spent several years in turnaround management and strategy consulting. Mr. Nolan began his career with Alvarez & Marsal and has executed projects totaling over $200M in EBITDA improvement across a variety of public and private equity backed companies.
Mr. Nolan received a B.S. from Vanderbilt University and an M.B.A. from the Wharton School of Business at the University of Pennsylvania.
Mr. O’Dekirk joined Formation Capital in January 2017 as an Associate on the Acquisitions team. He is responsible for analysis and execution of acquisition opportunities.
Prior to joining Formation, Mr. O’Dekirk worked as an Associate at EDG Partners, a lower middle market, healthcare private equity firm, where he focused on screening, execution, and oversight of EDG’s investments. Prior to his role at EDG, Mr. O’Dekirk worked at SunTrust Robinson Humphrey in the Healthcare Investment Banking group.
Mr. O’Dekirk is a 2012 graduate of the University of Georgia, where he received a B.B.A. in Finance and a B.S. in Mathematics.
Legal and Compliance Manager
Nela Powell joined Formation Capital in 2014. Her responsibilities include the implementation and monitoring of the compliance training and management systems, as well as supporting various compliance and legal-related projects.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Nela worked in the litigation department of a real estate firm. Her job responsibilities included working alongside the Litigation Compliance Management team as well as Associate and Managing Attorneys to ensure compliance and adherence to both firm and client directives. Nela also spearheaded the drafting and implementation of the Litigation and Eviction Department’s Policies and Procedures Manuals.
Nela earned her B.S. in Biology from Georgia State University and obtained her Paralegal Certification from the University of Georgia's Paralegal Certificate Program.
Vice President, Asset Management
Carrie Rasca is responsible for asset management, cash management, and portfolio reporting. Prior to joining Formation Capital in 2013, Carrie worked at Hudson Advisors as Assistant VP working on debt restructuring, asset recovery and Controller for the Senior Housing portfolio. She began her career with Holiday Retirement and provided a significant role in the restructure of Sunwest Management.
Carrie earned her B.S. in Business from Western Oregon University.
Portfolio Group Controller
Mr. Rihner joined Formation Capital in January 2016 as Portfolio Group Controller. His primary duties involve oversight of all accounting aspects of assigned Formation portfolios including financial reporting, on-boarding new portfolios, oversight of purchase price allocation projects, directing audit engagements, and other special projects as needed.
Mr. Rihner has over 15 years of accounting experience. Prior to Formation, he served as Director of Property Accounting at Signature Office REIT and its predecessor company Wells Real Estate Funds, Inc. Prior to that time, he was an Associate Director in Mobility Network Finance at AT&T and held various Finance and Accounting positions at AT&T/Cingular Wireless.
Mr. Rihner graduated with a B.S. in Accounting from William Carey University and a M.B.A. from Kennesaw State University.
Executive Assistant and Marketing Coordinator
Katy Warren joined Formation Capital in October 2005. She is the Executive Assistant to Arnold Whitman (Chairman) and Brian Beckwith (CEO) and manages the day-to-day operations of the corporate headquarters.
Katy is also responsible for the company's marketing efforts. She manages all marketing projects, industry events and advertising. She is the designer responsible for all of Formation's noteworthy elevator ads featured at the National Investment Center for Seniors Housing and Care (NIC) Conferences.
Previously, Katy served as an Executive Assistant and Marketing Coordinator at Atlanta-based investigative firm Smith & Carson, Inc. Prior to that, she worked for Regus as a Senior CSR and Nordstrom as a Sales Associate/Display Designer. Katy studied Political Science at N.C. State University.
Val Zanev joined Formation capital in April 2016. His primary duties include accounting and reporting functions with analysis for investments funds, real estate portfolios and tenant operators.
Prior to joining Formation Capital, Val worked as an accountant for the Buckhead Life Restaurant Group. While at Buckhead Life, Val assisted the Controller on the daily closings and financial analysis for multiple entities.
Val received a Bachelors of Business Administration in Accounting, with a minor in Finance from Kennesaw State University in 2014.
